If I reach the final, my wedding’s off!

-

DOMINIKA Cibulkova faces having to cancel her wedding after becoming a victim of her on-court success.

The 1 th seed from Slovakia was planning to tie the knot with fiancé Miso Navara on Saturday – the day of the ladies’ singles final. But yesterday she unexpectedly won through to the quarter-finals and is just two wins away from the final.

Miss Cibulkova beat No 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, a finalist in 2012, surviving a match point to win

-7 in the final set in a marathon tie lasting almost three hours.

She now plays Russia’s Elena Vesnina today for a place in Thursday’s semi-final, where Serena Williams is the likely opponent.

The 27-year-old said: ‘We planned this [wedding] nine months ago. You never know what can happen.

‘If we really have to postpone it, then it will be a dream come true because nothing better could happen to me in my tennis career.

‘It’s no problem to postpone a wedding one week after, and it will be even more enjoyable.’

Cibulkova, who at just 5ft 3in is one of the shortest women on the tennis circuit, has been engaged to Navara for four years. The pair are due to marry in Bratislava, her home city.
