Superdrug travel boost

TRAVEL vaccinatio­ns and eyebrow shaping helped health and beauty chain Superdrug post a 62pc rise in profit.

The chain, which is controlled by Asian billionair­e Li Kashing, has been expanding its services to entice shoppers to spend on more than just shampoo or cosmetics.

Services include eyebrow shaping, nail or lip treatments in 200 shops, health services such as travel vaccinatio­ns in 41 stores and nurse clinics in 24 stores for services including weight advice.

Profit for 2015 rose 62.4pc to £62.2m. revenue increased at stores open more than a year by 6.6pc. Sales of make-up and beauty accessorie­s rose 11pc. It has 787 shops and plans to open more this year, after opening seven last year. Online sales rose 50pc during the year.
