It’s Harry Potter and the super ticket sale
GETTING in to see Harry Potter And the Cursed Child is like winning the lottery: practically impossible unless you paid attention and purchased tickets early.
essentially, the show’s sold out until May 27, 2017, unless you get one of the 40 seats released for sale every Friday at 1pm on the show’s official website, known as the Friday Forty, or if the box office releases seats that punters have returned (very rare).
So i bring you exciting news. A new booking period will be launched during the first week of August. it’s being organised now by producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender.
i do not have the date for when those seats will be made available, but Friedman’s production company confirmed last night that tens of thousands of seats will soon be on offer to see the show from June 2017.
i was lucky enough to see the Cursed Child at an early preview and i remain enchanted by it. it has been crafted by director and writers John tiffany, Jack thorne and J.K. Rowling into a masterpiece of theatrical art. it’s mind-blowing and extraordinary, the best show currently on the London stage .
the casting’s sublime with noma Dumezweni, Jamie Parker and Paul thornley as the grown-up Hermione, Harry and Ron, and newcomers Sam Clemmett and Anthony Boyle, who command the stage as Albus and Scorpius.
People keep asking me how long the show will run and i tell them that its core themes of family, friendship and love will never date, which means Harry Potter And the Cursed Child will probably run for ever at the Palace theatre .
Keep checking updates at harrypottertheplay.com/ ticket information for the date those extra seats will be released.
Harry Potter officially opens on July 30 with a two-show gala of both parts of Cursed Child.
