Guess who’s doing work experience at our office...

- By Mike Dickson and Laura Lambert

AS a millionaire sports star and former Wimbledon champion, she is hardly your average work experience girl.

But, with her usual career on hold, Maria Sharapova has swapped the tennis court for the slightly more humdrum environment of the office.

The disgraced Russian tennis ace – who is currently serving a two-year ban from the sport for a failed drugs test – was spotted yesterday arriving at the London advertising agency VCCP, where it is thought she is working temporarily.

Her work experience follows a two-week stint at Harvard Business School and a brief spell at one of the university’s offices in Marylebone during the second week of Wimbledon.

It is thought that she is seeking to increase her business skills to help promote her Sugarpova brand of luxury confectionery, to which she has recently added a range of chocolates.

But, casually dressed in a loose-fitting white shirt tucked into a pair of ripped jeans, Miss Sharapova, 29, didn’t look all that prepared for a hard day’s work in the office.

And while most youngsters on work experience are keen to have an early night, Miss Sharapova was spotted at the upmarket restaurant Chiltern Firehouse late on Wednesday.

And just how long she will have on her hands to sharpen her business acumen remains unclear.

Her appeal hearing was due on July 18, but has been put back – ruling her out of the Olympics.
