ARGOS GO-AHEAD

Watchdogs gave Sainsbury’s the go-ahead to complete its £1.4bn purchase of Argos.

The deal will go to the shareholders of Argos-owner Home Retail for approval at a meeting on July 27. Home Retail and Sainsbury’s said they were pleased with The Competition and Markets Authority decision. Sainsbury’s shares slipped 1.3pc or 2.9p to 225.1p.
