From punk to paunch ...it’s Johnny Rotund

- Daily Mail Reporter

FORTY years ago he was the scrawny, foulmouthed lead singer of the Sex Pistols.

But Johnny Rotten looked a world away from his former self when he was spotted in Malibu on Friday.

The punk legend, real name John Lydon, appears to have given in to the ravages of time and changed his fashion choices from ripped clothes and safety pins to something a little more comfortable.

The 60-year-old was seen outside a grocers store wearing matching light blue shorts and a baggy shirt which covered his paunch.

Sporting blond hair, he also wore round reflective sunglasses as well as a trendy yet comfortable pair of Adidas trainers. The Sex Pistols released just one album and four singles during their short-lived career, including Anarchy In The UK.

The violently anti-monarchist track God Save The Queen looked sure to hit number one in 1977, coinciding with the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, but a Rod Stewart single kept if off the top spot.

Lydon has remained outspoken. After the Brexit referendum last month he said: ‘Either way you look at it, is not going to be beneficial initially but it is a nice idea to take back our country.’

But he added: ‘It is not a good idea to lose all the friends we have made in Europe. There is my confusion with it. I am not satisfied.’
