Is it time to call a halt to Pippamania?

-

So, PIPPA MIddLETon is engaged. congratulations. now can we have a break from this annoying woman — with fewer comparisons about who has the better ring, whose husband is the better catch, whose mother is the most pushy and who will be on the guest list? Who cares?

Mrs ChriS hill, Armitage, Staffs. TO BE making such comparisons between Pippa Middleton and the Duchess of Cambridge defies belief. They are sisters who love each other dearly, and I hope neither of them takes heed of this.

norA loCK, exeter, devon. Who is this Middleton woman? has she found a cure for cancer? has she won a gold medal in athletics? Why wasn’t there a front-page photograph last Monday of Kyle Edmund? By winning two exciting tennis matches, he ensured Britain is on its way to retaining the davis cup. Is this sexism?

A. A. bottinG, london. DON’T the public suffer enough with Z-list celebrities without the prospect of a Pippa Middleton wedding? It’s bad enough that these people, with little real glamour, charm or charisma, hog the best seats at everything from Wimbledon to the opening of an envelope.

John eVAnS, Wokingham, berks. For goodness sake, stop publishing comparisons between Pippa Middleton and her sister, catherine, our future Queen. We would never have heard of Pippa had it not been for Kate. Pippa is what I consider a ‘social climber’, and for Jan Moir to say she struggled in Kate’s shade, rubbish! She has hung on to her shadow since Kate’s wedding, seeking centre-stage. now let us return to normality and concentrate our outlook on our future monarchy, please.

J. A. FoSSitt, Wethersfield, essex. I AM 70 years old, working in the health service. Unlike ‘name and address supplied’, I am not jealous of Pippa’s lifestyle nor her jewellery. Good luck to her — but I don’t understand all the interest in her. I wish some papers would stop playing one sister against the other — it’s not newsworthy. As for the person with the master’s degree (Letters), s/he should be intelligent enough not to worry about others and get a life.
