New fear over guardian plan
POLICE are investigating whether they may have broken the law by taking part in the SNP’s illegal state guardian scheme.
The Supreme Court in London ruled this summer that the Named Person initiative was unlawful, as it breached European human rights laws.
There is now concern that trials of the scheme already in operation where information about children is shared between agencies may also fall foul of the law.
Police Scotland said it ‘is engaging with the Scottish Government ...to seek assurance that our current information-sharing procedures remain compliant with European Convention on Human Rights and the Data Protection Act 1998’.
