All eyes on Kate, so slender in scarlet
SHE’D spent the afternoon tramping around a rainforest in battered old boots and a pair of jeans.
But just a few hours later, the Duchess of Cambridge switched on the style and stunned guests at a glitzy reception with this chic red cocktail dress.
Kate wore the £995 Preen frock for an event at Government House in Victoria, where she and Prince William are staying during their week-long tour of Canada.
With their children asleep upstairs, the couple mingled with the great and the good of British Columbia society. Kate’s unusually daring ‘Finella’ midi dress was crafted from sculpting stretchcrepe, with a draped bodice, nipped-in waist and voluminous box-pleated skirt that emphasised her slender figure.
Her hair had been swept up in a chignon courtesy of her on-call personal hairdresser, Amanda Cook Tucker, who is travelling with her on the visit.
For the second time on the trip she was sporting the Queen’s diamond maple leaf brooch as a tribute to their hosts.
Before the reception she and William joined around 25 dignitaries for a ceremony designed to heal the wounds of conflict between indigenous people and the government.
Assisted by two Indian chiefs, William, added a ring of reconciliation to the Black Rod, a ceremonial staff of British Columbia’s Legislature modelled on the one used in Parliament in London.
