Why Amal needs to look like this again

AmAl Clooney has a wardrobe to rival any Alister — with outfits costing anything up to £5,000. But it wasn’t always so.

Back when she was plain Amal Alamuddin, her clothes were far more subdued — as this 2011 photograph shows. She’s in a £250 Jaeger trench coat, £175 Russell & Bromley shoes with a £45 m&S bag.

not exactly cheap, but perhaps more suited to a serious civil rights lawyer.

Clearly there are occasions when she has to dress the part of a glitzy Hollywood wife; but wearing outfits that cost several times most people’s monthly mortgage payment doesn’t send a good message.

There is a time and a place to show off your wealth; in pursuit of human rights for those who have suffered unimaginable horrors isn’t it.
