THE 2005 animated film Wallace & Gromit: Curse Of The WereRabbit (pictured) by Bristolbas­ed Aardman Animations, holds the record for the most Plasticine used in a feature film after ploughing through 6,272 lb (2,845kg) of the stuff. That’s the same weight as a small Asian elephant.

THE first anthology of English-language nursery rhymes, Tommy Thumb’s Pretty Song-Book, was published in London 272 years ago. It contains the oldest printed texts of many famous rhymes, including Baa Baa Black Sheep, Hickory Dickory Dock and London Bridge Is Falling Down.

A CLOUD of gas and dust formed from a dying star, called the Boomerang Nebula, is the coldest place in the universe, at minus 272c (minus 457.6f). It is 5,000 light years away from Earth and was discovered in 1995.
