Riddle of missing mother Farrah and her link to murder suspects on the run

- By Xantha Leatham

A MANHuNT has been launched for a missing mother who may have been with two men being sought in connection with a murder.

Officers began searching for Farrah Fadli after she vanished on October 12 with her children.

She was last seen on CCTV footage standing at a counter next to a purple charity collection box and a card machine.

In a bizarre twist of events, police have issued images of two men who appear to have been pictured in the same spot and are wanted in connection with a brutal killing.

It is believed that Miss Fadli, from Ayr, might have witnessed the incident – and has since been on the run with the pair.

It is understood police want to question Craig Munro and Allan Robertson in connection with the violent death of John Smith, who was murdered at his home in Stevenston, Ayrshire, on October 8.

The father of four was found with serious injuries and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock before being transferred to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth university Hospital. The 52-year-old died from his injuries two days later.

Police have warned the public not to approach Munro, 30, and Robertson, 26, and released their images over the weekend in an attempt to track them down.

One picture shows the same location as a picture of Miss Fadli, also known as Farrah Gillespie. The images were taken from a security camera thought to be installed in a budget hotel in Ayr.

Officers have not issued descriptions of the men but the CCTV images show Munro has short, brown hair and was wearing a black jacket, while Robertson has short, fair hair and was wearing a green jacket.

Miss Fadli took her children McKenzie Scullion, ten, and fouryear-old Eva Kerr, with her. But following an appeal from police officers who said they were ‘very concerned’ about the 29-year-old’s disappearance, she dropped the children off at a friend’s house in Irvine, Ayrshire, on October 14 and the youngsters are now being cared for by relatives.

However, Miss Fadli has not been seen since and it is thought she may have been in contact with Munro and Robertson.

Speaking of the men, a police spokesman said: ‘The police are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in relation to tracing these males.

‘Members of the public are advised not to approach these males but to phone police immediately on 101.’

It is understood officers believe Miss Fadli was in their company at some point, though may now have left them and be with someone else.

She is described as 5ft 4in, slim and with dyed blonde hair.

Police are still treating Miss Fadli as a missing person and urged anypolice. one with information about her whereabouts to contact them.

Inspector Jim Hendrie said last week: ‘It is now almost a week since Farrah has gone missing and as time progresses we remain concerned for her well-being.

‘It is extremely unusual for her to leave her children for such a long time and not be in touch with her family and friends.

‘I would urge anyone who knows where she is to get in touch with police immediately. If Farrah herself is seeing these appeals, I would ask her directly to get in touch with Your friends, family and children are desperate to have you back safe and well.’

On Saturday a woman in Mossblown, Ayrshire, who said she was related to Miss Fadli, said: ‘We know nothing about any of this and I’ve never heard of these men.

‘We hope and pray Farrah is found safe and well and comes home.’

Miss Fadli’s home was deserted over the weekend and a police notice was pinned to her door asking the occupant to get in touch. Police say the mother has not gone missing before.

Kimberley Govan, a friend of Miss Fadli, has posted several times on social media about her disappearance. Earlier this month she wrote: ‘Someone must know where she is. She just needs to come home, whatever happened can be sorted, hopefully.’

Natalie Leitch, a friend of Miss Govan, wrote: ‘Hope you get a bit of news soon so you aren’t up half the night worried sick. She is in my thoughts.’

Another friend, Tammie Hetherington, said: ‘This is so sad. Hope someone hears from her soon, even just to let them know she’s okay.’

Pictures on Miss Fadli’s Facebook page show her smiling and pouting for the camera. In some photographs she poses with friends, while her posts mention going to the gym and booking a holiday to Magaluf.
