Tributes after sudden death of schoolgirl
TRIBUTES have been paid to a fiveyear-old girl who died suddenly after falling ill.
Eilidh Dempsey, of Hamilton, Lanarkshire, passed away on Monday afternoon after being found unconscious while staying at a relative’s home.
She had been feeling unwell and had been kept off school by her parents, Debbie McGinty and Craig Dempsey.
Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Eilidh was a P2 pupil at Townhill Primary, Hamilton.
Headteacher Julie McGowan said: ‘Eilidh was a happy, friendly and enthusiastic girl who enjoyed school and we feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have been a part of her life.
‘She was a credit to her family, and our thoughts and prayers are with her mum, dad, family and friends.’
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: ‘We received a report around 1pm on Monday concerning the death of a five-yearold girl.
‘A post-mortem examination has been carried out and there are no suspicious circumstances.’
