Rolls engines ‘late’

-

EMIRATES, the Middle East’s largest airline, will take delivery of a new plane late following problems with enginemaker Rolls-Royce.

The first of a batch of A380 superjumbo jets powered by the Trent 900 engine will be delivered two weeks later than expected.

Tim Clark, the Dubai carrier’s president, revealed the delays last month but said the firm hoped to receive the first Rolls-Royce-powered jet on December 2 as planned.

They are now expected by December 16. Emirates said yesterday: ‘As a result of a technical issue, the delivery of our first Rolls-Royce powered A380 was delayed slightly.’
