HOUSTON’S FURY AT PENALTY DECISION

- ALAN DOUGLAS at East End Park

FALKIRK boss Peter Houston launched a scathing attack on referee Euan Anderson after Bairns midfielder Tom Taiwo was penalised for handball inside the penalty area. Dunfermline’s Rhys McCabe made no mistake from 12 yards to cancel out Myles Hippolyte’s tenth-minute opener for the visitors. Houston was also furious that Anderson didn’t send off Pars skipper Andy Geggan for a first-half challenge on Hippolyte. ‘I thought we should have won the match, the referee gave them a bit of help,’ he said. ‘I’ve looked at it again and from the angle he’s at, how he can tell it hit Tom on the hand, I don’t know. He is behind the player. ‘Tom’s hand is up by his chest, he jumped up and it hit him on the chest. Is that deliberate? ‘I thought they needed a bit of help to get the goal and the referee was willing to do that. He wasn’t wanting to speak to me after the game. ‘I’ll need to get the definition of red and yellow cards as well because Myles skips away from the right-back and he just wipes him out with no attempt to play the ball.’ Allan Johnston’s Pars racked up a total of eight corners during the first half and Lee Ashcroft went close after ten minutes when his header was hooked off the line. The hosts looked most likely to break the deadlock but Falkirk drew first blood just seconds later when Hippolyte swept home. Left-back Tony Gallacher sped past John Baird and after receiving a pass from his team-mate, the 17-year-old kept his composure to tee up Hippolyte. The second half was a closer affair and the Pars levelled in the 59th minute when McCabe sent Danny Rogers the wrong way from 12 yards after Taiwo was penalised for stopping Joe Cardle’s cross. Johnston thought a point was the least his team deserved, saying: ‘I thought we were different class in the first half. We dominated the first period and to go a goal down was a bit of a travesty for all the good play that we had. ‘The second half was more even but credit to the players for coming back and showing that determination to get the point.’
