Coming soon from Glastonbury chiefs ... it’s the Variety Bazaar
GLASTONBURY Festival organisers have launched a new event called Variety Bazaar.
Founder Michael Eavis says he will stage the new festival at an unknown location somewhere ‘halfway to the Midlands’.
But with few details revealed, fans were left wondering about the fate of the muchloved Glastonbury.
Some asked if the new festival would replace Glastonbury, while others thought it could be something to keep fans happy during the festival’s ‘fallow’ years.
Organisers simply confirmed Variety Bazaar would be a separate festival at a site other than Worthy Farm. Mr Eavis told local radio station Glastonbury FM: ‘We’re calling it the Variety Bazaar – we’ve registered the name, actually.’
Asked where the new festival will be held, he said only: ‘It’s a little bit of a secret. Halfway to the Midlands from here...’
Mr Eavis, 81, has previously said he would move Glastonbury to a new location once every five years to give Pilton village a rest from the hundreds of thousands of festivalgoers who descend in June.
