Now Greggs will deliver your pasty

-

GREGGS has launched a delivery service allowing office workers to order sausage rolls and sandwiches to their desks.

It is being tested in Newcastle and London, and if successful could be rolled out across the UK.

Roger Whiteside, chief executive, said: ‘We are late to this party but we believe Greggs can play a role in the delivery channel.’

Whiteside said the minimum order would be £20, and food would be delivered to offices, not homes.

The venture came as Greggs posted a 7pc boost in sales in the year to December 31.

Fourth quarter sales rose 4.1pc, excluding the final two weeks of the year that benefited from extra trading days around Christmas.

This was driven by a new range of bakes and burritos along with its traditional sausage rolls, pasties and doughnuts.

Whiteside said full-year results were likely to be ahead of expectations. Shares closed up 1.2pc, or 12p to 1013p.
