US boss to take helm after tie-up

-

MICRO Focus has announced its boss will come from HP Enterprise following the British tech giant’s takeover of the American company’s software arm.

Chris Hsu will replace Stephen Murdoch as chief executive of the enlarged group when the £7.1bn deal completes in the third quarter of this year.

Hsu, 46, is chief operating officer of HPE and executive vice president of HPE Software.

He will run Newbury-based Micro Focus from the US.

Murdoch is stepping into a chief operating role, and will remain in the UK along with the rest of the leadership team.

The appointment of a HPE executive to the board was part of the agreement when the deal was announced last year.

Micro Focus’ takeover of HP Enterprise’s software arm was its latest acquisition of a Silicon Valley star after it bought Serena Software in March last year for £405m.
