Killie reject £500k bid for striker Coulibaly

- By MARK WILSON

KILMARNOCK have turned down a £500,000 offer for Souleymane Coulibaly from Egyptian club Zamalek. And Sportsmail understands that the Rugby Park side are seeking double that amount for a January sale of their 11-goal top scorer. Coulibaly, who signed a threeyear deal after joining Lee Clark’s outfit last summer, has produced some spectacular strikes to rebuild a reputation that bloomed as a teenager. Now 22, the Ivorian striker first came to prominence when finishing as top scorer in the 2011 Under-17 World Cup. That helped secure a move to Tottenham, but Coulibaly’s career had drifted through spells at Bari and Peterborough

before rediscovering his form in Ayrshire. Another Egyptian side, Al Ahly, have been linked with an interest in him this month. Several English clubs have also taken note of Coulibaly’s form but the player’s agent, Lee Payne, made it clear that his client had no intention of rocking the boat. ‘Souleymane is a Kilmarnock player unless we get told otherwise from the club,’ said Payne. ‘He is fully committed and is really enjoying playing there. ‘One thing that we were told when Souleymane signed was that Kilmarnock are a selling club and wouldn’t stand in his way if they received a fair offer for him. The question is what a fair offer would be six months after he joined on a free transfer.’
