A YOUNG mother who died after her car overturned with her baby daughter on board was yesterday named by police.

Hannah Davies, 23, pictured, died at the scene of the accident on the A92, north of Inverbervi­e, Aberdeensh­ire, on saturday morning.

Her 13-month-old daughter was airlifted to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for treatment for minor injuries. she is now at home with her family and is said to be safe and well.

In a statement issued through Police scotland, the family of Miss Davies, from Inverbervi­e, said: ‘We would like to thank the folk who stopped to try and help our daughter as well as the emergency services and hospital.’

sergeant Malcolm Kinross, of the Road Policing Unit, North East Division, said last night: ‘Our investigat­ion is still at an early stage and I am appealing for anyone who was aware of a black Nissan Note at around 10.50am on February 18 2017 on the A92 Inverbervi­e to Kinneff road, to contact the police on 101.’

The road was closed to allow collision investigat­ion to take place and was later re-opened.

Tributes have been paid to Miss Davies on social media. Jacqui shaw, of Inverbervi­e, wrote: ‘ so very sad, such a young girl who adored her daughter. RIP Hannah.’

Christine Wilkie wrote: ‘What a dreadful loss of a lovely young woman.
