£80! Iceberg water price big enough to sink a ship
COSTING £80 a bottle, it is marketed as a ‘sophisticated alternative’ to the finest wines.
And this elixir? It’s water… sold at Harrods, of course.
Its makers claim it is especially pure because it is ‘harvested’ from the icebergs of Svalbard, an archipelago between Norway and the North Pole.
Only enough to fill 13,000 750ml bottles is taken at a time, and Svalbardi water is sold as a ‘sophisticated alternative to alcohol which enriches culinary experiences’.
The firm was founded by Norwegian-American former Wall Street businessman Jamal Qureshi, who said the water comes from melted icebergs formed from snow that fell up to 4,000 years ago.
‘Because the ice has been compacted since before industrial-era pollution circled the world, pollutants have been unable to contaminate the source,’ he added.
