Labour MP rakes in £5k of freebies in just a year
HOUSE of Commons Speaker John Bercow is known for his love of freebies, raking in more than £40,000 worth of complimentary tickets and hospitality in just three years — but he’s not the only one.
Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher, who was sacked as shadow culture minister by Jeremy Corbyn, has enjoyed freebies worth almost £5,000 in the past year.
These include three tickets for the World Darts final at Alexandra Palace worth £750 courtesy of bookmaker William Hill, £1,008 worth of hospitality and tickets from the Premier League at the Johnson Paint Trophy Cup, and tickets and hospitality to see Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium last June, worth £259.
T he normally l oquacious politician, who also employs his wife as his part- time office manager, could not be reached for comment yesterday.
