THE title is misleading. Yes, Susan Sarandon’s widow is on her daughter’s (Rose Byrne, pictured with Sarandon) case a lot, but this charming drama has so much more powering it and a wonderful role for Sarandon.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE scored in both legs as City beat Paris Saint Germain in last year’s Champions League quarter-finals. To get that far again, they must overcome French opposition once more and need to be wary of the Monegasque side — and ex-Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao — who are the current Ligue 1 leaders.

GLORIOUS LANDSCAPE South Downs: England’s Mountains Green, 9pm, BBC4

IN 2010, the South Downs became a National Park, and this new film is a guide to its wonders, told through the eyes of Peter OwenJones (pictured). It overdoes the epic music, but even that can’t spoil such fundamenta­lly lovely scenery.

SPELLING LESSONS The Magicians, 9pm, 5Star

THIS sassy, hard-edged tale of wizards in training opens season two in the seemingly whimsical fairytale land of Fillory — where danger lurks beneath the surface. Look out for Eliot, whose impression of Patrick Swayze is this episode’s undoubted highlight.

DESPERATE JOURNEY Ross Kemp: Libya’s Migrant Hell, 9pm, Sky 1

IT IS said that 12 people die every day making the crossing from Africa to Europe through Libya, but what pushes them to take such a terrible risk? Ross Kemp tours a fractured Libya and travels with migrants in this harrowing account of misery.

THIS high-stakes U.S. drama, which plays out between flawed and bewilderin­gly overconfid­ent men, is back for a new season. Axe (Damian Lewis) is doubling down on security at his hedge fund, while U.S. Attorney Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) swats away an investigat­ion. Big, glossy and best

ALAN DAVIES welcomes four guests to his circular, pub-like table as his chat show begins a new series on strong form. Jimmy Carr, Davina McCall, Reginald D. Hunter and Alice Levine address many topics, including Carr’s laugh — which proves to be a surprising­ly riveting subject.

NEW U.S. SITCOM Crashing, 10.10pm, Sky Atlantic

PETE HOLMES (pictured) plays Pete, a gentle Christian who wants to be a stand-up comedian. His wife supports him until she leaves him, and he’s left surfing sofas in NYC, learning lessons from hardbitten comics. The sharp HBO comedy that results is more human than many and feels fresh.

FILM THRILLER The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, 11.10pm, Film4

THE thrilling Scandinoir trilogy shows over consecutiv­e nights. Noomi Rapace stars as Lisbeth Salander, an antiheroin­e full of dark, deeply hidden secrets.
