- By Lucy Gray

A MAN has died after being crushed by his car near his Highland home.

Tommy Macaulay, 55, was on a private road in Navidale, Sutherland, when the car he had been driving rolled on top of him.

Police Scotland said the emergency services were alerted at 4pm on Friday.

It is unclear what caused the accident, but a Police Scotland spokesman said there were ‘no suspicious circumstances’.

Postman Mr Macaulay, pictured, of Helmsdale, had been a keen footballer and was a member of the Tartan Army.

As well as being a retained member of the Helmsdale Fire Brigade, he helped out with the village primary school football training and was a member of the local rowing club.

He leaves wife Jane, 46, and 22-year-old daughter Lauren.

On Facebook, Lauren wrote: ‘I love you daddy, you will always be in my heart and I will cherish all the memories we made together.’
