That’s my Hoy! Sir Chris shares son’s first bike ride

- By Stuart MacDonald

HIS proud father is one of Britain’s most successful Olympic heroes of all time, winning six gold medals and one silver.

So it is no surprise to discover that little Callum Hoy, son of Scottish cycling champ Sir Chris, is a chip off the old block.

The two-year-old looked delighted to take to the saddle at the weekend after his parents bought him his first bicycle.

Sir Chris, 40, posted a photograph of the beaming toddler, wearing a Batman T-shirt, as he rode around – with a little help from his famous father.

He shared the photo on Instagram with the message: ‘Callum’s first bike. Not sure if he likes it. #wheelie.’

Fans of the Edinburgh-born cyclist were thrilled to see the cute family picture.

Craig Eadie wrote: ‘Hope we see him in the BMX track one day.’ Lady mornington posted: ‘That is the cutest!! I’m sure he’ll take to it. It’s in his genes!’

Callum was born 11 weeks early in October 2014 and weighed only two pounds. He fought for life in intensive care and it was 140 days before he could go home with Sir Chris and his wife, Sarra.

After Callum’s birth, Sir Chris told how fatherhood had changed him.

He said: ‘You have a different perspective. You realise the things that are worth worrying about, the things that aren’t.

‘Everyone says that once you have kids, you never stop worrying. There’s always something to worry about, no matter what age they are.’
