PANCAKE DAY

The first pancake was in the pan And, being the show-off that I am — ‘I’m tossing pancakes, everyone!’ Even the dog joined in the fun. They all crowded round as it flew in the air,* And I have to admit I did it with flair. It twisted and turned, then made its descent, But it missed the pan from whence it was sent. It dropped on the dog with a bit of a thwack, And draped itself like a cape on his back. Though the old chap was somewhat startled, He ended up quite a winner, For I peeled the pancake off his back, And he devoured it for his dinner. *the pancake, not the dog. delia bennett, Shepshed, leics.
