Recycling rules

-

TEN years ago, I could go to my local recycling site, explain that I needed soft toys for fund-raising and they would save them for me.

Now it’s not allowed. Everything taken in has to be recycled. Last week, delivering waste there, I was appalled at the amount of new and nearly-new stuff in the containers.

The world is running out of resources, but we can recycle nearly new items which could be reused. We’re struggling to find sites for landfill. If the good items were sold or given away, the amount of materials needing treatment would be reduced and money could be made, so we would all benefit.

The workers on the site could collect suitable items and put them to one side.

It also makes one wonder if people have ever heard of charity shops. mar Garet SAYNOR, Hesketh Bank, Lancs.
