A law exists

I’M SURPRISED people are calling for ‘catfishing’ to be illegal (Mail) — it already is.

Catfishing, using false information to gain the affections of another, is prohibited by Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.

This states that if someone sends false messages which they know are false and that cause needless anxiety to another, they are committing an offence. Thus there’s no legal reason ‘Antony Ray’ can’t be prosecuted for what he did to Anna Rowe.
