Should the Ted Heath inquiry be ditched?

-

I KNOW former Prime Minister ted heath could drive (Mail) because about 30 years ago he was ‘nicked’ for speeding along Canterbury Road in Ramsgate, where his yacht was. he got off because a court official had been caught around the same time and knew the lampposts were the wrong distance apart to make the speed limit legal. I don’t know what they did about the lights. As for him being of advanced age, I’m 82 this month. I’m not a genius but I still ride a bike, drive, ring church bells, wind the church clock and deliver meals on wheels.

DON COWAN, Thirsk, N. Yorks. MY WIFE and I visited Salisbury last week and saw the tombstone of Sir Edward Heath MP in the cathedral. We asked a street cleaner where his house was and he pointed out one off the green. ‘Don’t believe all you read in the Press,’ he said. ‘I’ve been cleaning for over 20 years and can say that Sir Edward always had protection officers and staff at the house, even after he was Prime Minister.’ PETER JILLINGS, Haslemere, Surrey. I’M INCREASINGLY concerned about the amount of exposure being given to insecure people who may have joined the police force because they couldn’t hack it in the real world. the danger is that such underachievers rise through the ranks and seek to attack the achievers whom they perceive to have caused their early failures. Edward heath served this country in an exemplary fashion for years. Being dead, he’s an easy target for those who may wish to make a name for themselves. For the sake of the citizens of Wiltshire, they should stop attacking Mr heath.
