Fancy trying the Gwynnie detox and living on nothing but goat’s milk for eight days?

- By Kate Pickles

SHE has already courted criticism with several of her tips for a healthy lifestyle. Now Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her latest fad – an eight-day, goat milk-only diet.

The 44-year-old actress claims the detox regime fights the effects of heavy metals – such as copper and zinc – and ‘parasites’. She told Women’s Health Magazine: ‘I’m knee-deep in figuring out ways to clear them from the body, looking at all sorts of potentially weird modalities.’

However her unusual diet appears to have done the mother of two no harm, as she showed by displaying her toned physique in a series of bikini pictures for the magazine’s April edition.

Goats’ milk has been found to have lower levels of heavy metals and more protein than cows’ milk and – for those who don’t mind its musky taste – is easier for the body to digest.

Miss Paltrow, who founded the lifestyle website Goop, has been ridiculed by critics and health experts for some of her more unusual tips, from intimate steaming to ‘cleanse the uterus’ to a complex detox smoothie containing powdered fungus.

But she said was not afraid of being judged, adding: ‘When you’re at the forefront of something that’s new, people can get really reactive, “This is crazy! Why are you doing this?” Then, five years later, everyone’s fine with it.’

She insisted that despite her detox tips, she does indulge.

She said: ‘I have a pretty healthy diet, so when I’m eating processed foods and not watching my alcohol intake, I feel it.

‘But at the same time, you want deliciousness, you want a fun life – pleasure! You’re going to have a baguette and cheese and red wine frenzy sometimes – but you want it to be a choice you’re awake to.’
