Don’t touch me! Shot woman screamed at police

- By Rebecca Camber Crime Correspondent

THE first woman terror suspect shot by police in Britain yelled ‘Don’t touch my body’ as officers battled to treat her.

The 21-year-old was believed to be unarmed when she was gunned down as heavily armed officers carried out a raid to foil a suspected terror cell believed to be plotting to bomb major landmarks in London.

Six shots were fired in the suburban property in Willesden, north-west London, before police dragged the injured woman in a burka out on to the pavement as neighbours looked on.

Dramatic footage shows the woman with her head bowed, screaming ‘get off me’ as officers and paramedics tried to help her. Ruth Haile, 40, who has lived in the area for nine years, said she heard gunshots outside and rushed to her window at 7pm on Thursday.

She added: ‘The woman was being arrested, she was on the floor wearing a long dress and covered in a head scarf. She was shouting, “Do not touch me, do not touch my body”.

‘She was injured, she had a wound on her right side and doctors were trying to help her. She was lying in the street and there were about five or six police around her, some of them carrying

guns. Police were cutting her dress and she was shouting at them, “No, no, no”. There was blood everywhere.’

As the woman received medical attention, an armed officer stood guard pointing his gun at her from across the street.

Yesterday a series of bullet holes could be seen in the upstairs window of the first floor property.

It is thought to be the first time a woman has been shot during a counter-terrorism investigation in the UK.

Police said the injured woman remains in hospital with serious injuries but is stable. She has not yet been arrested due to her condition.
