THERE’S fun for all the family at the Edinburgh Internatio­nal Children’s Festival – with theatre, dance and puppetry from around the world.

With shows for children from only 18 months old, there is something for everyone – and your Scottish Daily Mail is giving you two tickets for the price of one.

The festival runs from May 27 to June 4 and opens with a family weekend at the National Museum of Scotland (May 27 and 28) with free drop-in events all day. For more details, visit www.imaginate.org.uk.

A STUNNING and highly amusing show exploring how we react to the unexpected, as dancers and musicians try to deal with a huge wooden cube which has landed in the middle of the stage. Wednesday, May 31, 7pm.

LITTLE RED (7-12yrs) traverse theatre

A FLASH of fur, a glint of teeth, something out there in the night… and Little Red Riding Hood is setting off from home.

This is a contempora­ry twist on an old favourite. Expect high energy, acrobatic dancing and plenty of humour. Sunday, June 4, 11.30am or 3pm.

THE QUEEN HAS VANISHED (5-12yrs) the Studio at Festival theatre

THE King refuses to go out, the garden is a shambles and the princess is grieving for her mother. None of her suitors have touched her frozen heart… yet. Told with live music and wonderful illustrati­ons, this is a story of hope and friendship. Sunday, June 4, 1.30pm.

NOSFERATU (8-13yrs) traverse theatre

DRACULA, but not quite as you know it. Combining gripping storytelli­ng and humour, this classic is told using ingenious light-bulb puppets and with a large dose of humour. Saturday, June 3, 3.30pm.

GIRL ASLEEP (FILM) (12+) Filmhouse

THIS award-winning movie set in 1970s suburban Australia is a journey into the absurd, scary and beautiful heart of the teenage mind of Greta Driscoll, as she struggles to leave the comfort of her childhood. thurs, June 1, 10am or 8.30pm.

BAMBERT’S BOOK OF LOST STORIES (8-13yrs) Brunton theatre

A THRILLING and inventive show about a lonely little man and his love of writing. Told using beautifull­y crafted puppets and designs, Bambert explores the idea that stories really can change the world. tues, May 30, 10.30am or 1.30pm.
