WHO IS IT? Audioboom hosts and distributes thousands of podcasts for around 2,400 broadcasters. It allows users to share content via audio providers such as iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and Facebook. It has been used by the BBC, Associated Press and Yahoo!

WHAT’S THE LATEST? The firm released its full-year results for 2016 earlier this week, reporting revenue growth of £1.1m year-onyear. It has already booked £3m of advertising campaigns for the 2017 financial year. But it also revealed an operating loss of £4.6m for the year. Last month, the firm completed its acquisition of SONR News for £1.4m.

WHO BACKS IT? The firm’s biggest shareholder is non-executive director Nick Candy, one half of the Candy Brothers and husband of pop star and actress Holly Valance. He holds a 15.8pc stake in the firm. The 43-year old is the co-founder and chief executive of Candy & Candy, a luxury real estate designer whose projects include One Hyde Park in London. Earlier this year, Nick and brother Christian faced accusations of blackmail, extortion and intimidation from former business partners and advisers in an ongoing £132m claim for damages at the High Court.

WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST The firm has outperformed on all its key performance indicators by triple digits. For example, unique users grew more than 100pc and total available advertising impressions grew 450pc. With the stock down around 20pc for the year, this sort of potential upside seems a steal. …

AND WHY YOU SHOULDN’T Technology companies have a reputation for being cash hungry, and, as seen in Audioboom’s results, profits can take a long time to materialise.
