Why Brand is making Kirsty feel so broody

- By Sam Walker

HE’S certainly not the obvious choice when it comes to inspirational father figures.

But Kirsty Gallacher says watching 41-year-old Russell Brand play with his baby daughter Mabel has made her feel broody again.

The former model, also 41, whose younger sister Laura, 28, is mother to the six-month-old and engaged to the comedian, said: ‘Russell’s a wonderful dad, and it’s lovely to see him with Mabel. She’s a little girlie thing and it’s quite funny. He’s loving it.

‘I get my daily pictures, which the kids love. Mabel is so pretty and gorgeous and I love being an auntie. Being a parent does develop you as a person, and Russell would say that he has learned a lot.’

The Edinburgh-born Sky Sports host, who divorced rugby player Paul Sampson, 39, in 2014, already has two sons, Oscar, ten, and sevenyear-old Jude.

After a brief romance with rugby player Danny Cipriani, who is 12 years her junior, ended last year, she is now dating again, despite describing her previous marriage as the ‘worst investment’ she ever made because of the toll it took on her finances.

She said: ‘I’m enjoying seeing somebody, going on dates and having a great time. It obviously feels different, but it’s enjoyable. You move on, and it’s nice being with different people and seeing where it goes. It’s early days. It’s been a few months, but it’s very private.

‘You won’t find many pictures of me out and about. Some people enjoy that, but I don’t want to do that. If you keep it private, you enjoy it more and it’s fairer on everybody.’

On babies, she said: ‘If I’m lucky enough to have one more then I’d be thrilled as I don’t feel like I have finished yet on the baby thing. I get really broody when I see a newborn. I love babies and kids so much. It would be the next phase of my life and another journey I’d be embarking on.

‘But if I can’t, obviously I’m still lucky as I’ve got two really amazing kids.’

Miss Gallacher prompted concern for her health five months ago when she collapsed during a commercial break in her live sports broadcast. Taken to hospital suffering from a viral infection and exhaustion, she was forced to deny rumours that she had been drunk on air.
