ROBERTS: I’LL SIGN OFF WITH GOAL RUSH

- By STEPHEN McGOWAN

PATRICK ROBERTS has vowed to sign off at Celtic Park in record-breaking fashion. Poised to return to Manchester City after a successful 18-month loan spell, the 20-year-old scored twice in a man-ofthe-match display in the 5-0 win over Partick Thistle. And he reckons Hearts have every reason to fear a bad season can still get worse as Celtic aim to end the league campaign unbeaten with new records for points won and goals scored. Finally set to get his hands on the league trophy after weeks of waiting, Roberts said: ‘You want to put on a show. ‘It could be my last game at Celtic Park and you want to go out in style. ‘Hopefully I can show the fans what I can do, enjoy the day and enjoy the trophy. I can’t wait for it. ‘It’s been a good season for us all. ‘I’m feeling positive and it’s good to score goals.’ Hearts travel along the M8 on a wretched run of form, with new doubts over the future of striker Bjorn Johnsen following a bust-up in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to St Johnstone. Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald admitted his team played with fear in Thursday’s 5-0 home defeat and Roberts added: ‘I think Hearts should be nervous. ‘Every team is nervous when they play us. ‘It shows the belief and confidence within us. ‘Every team coming to Parkhead gets nervous, but we can’t let that faze us. We’ll go out like we always do. ‘The gaffer knows what we need to do. He makes sure we don’t slip up. ‘We’ll go into the last game the same as we have every game. ‘We’ve got two games left — one in the league and one a cup final — so it’s there for us to take. ‘We want to take the chance. ‘We’ll approach it the same way and if we do that we’ll come out winners. It comes down to us and our mentality.’ Keen to return to City and push for a first-team place, the England Under-20 winger believes Celtic have been good for his game, saying: ‘I’ve played in a lot of games. More than I could count. I’ve played in big games and scored goals. ‘I came here to do that and win trophies, so I’ve certainly done that. At the end of the season I can look back and say I’ve had a really successful time here. I’m glad I came here.’
