ON BOARD Insurer Charles Taylor has added a Microsoft boss to its board as non-executive director. Tamer ozmen runs Microsoft UK Services and will also sit on Charles Taylor’s audit, remunerati­on, and nomination­s committees.

JOINT ROLE Tobacco giant Imperial Brands has hired Simon Langelier, the chairman of a Canadian medical marijuana company, as a non-executive director.

SHARE BUY Luxury retailer Burberry has announced plans to buy back up to £50m of its shares between June 19 and July 10.

OXFORD JOB The former chief executive of technology company E2V is joining the board of tech company Oxford Instrument­s. Stephen Blair, 57, joins as an independen­t non-executive director in July. oxford Instrument­s yesterday reported a loss of £25.5m, compared to a £9.7m profit last year. But adjusted profit rose 7.1pc to £36m.

HEALTHY PROFITS Healthcare devices maker Halma said profits rose 16pc to £157.7m. UK revenue grew 7pc to £155m, while turnover in the US grew 27pc to £345m. Revenue grew 31pc to £261m in its medical sector, which makes products such as blood pressure monitors and eye health equipment.

INCOME DOUBLES Fuel cell developer Ceres Power expects fullyear income to the year ending June 30 to more than double to £4m this year, ahead of earlier expectatio­ns.

This is more than double the 2012 figure of 73, according to Home office statistics revealed by a Reuters freedom of informatio­n request.
