Macron wins poll landslide
EMMANUEL Macron was last night on course for a record landslide in French parliamentary elections that will strengthen his hand for upcoming Brexit negotiations.
The 39-year-old president cast his vote in the resort of Le Touquet, northern France, where he lives for part of the year with wife Brigitte, 64. After voting she posed for photos with Tiphaine Auziere, 30, her daughter from a former marriage.
Mr Macron’s new party, Republic En Marche, and its coalition partner MoDem were expected to win 425 seats out of 577 in the National Assembly, according to projections.
