I’ve got very sensitive skin. Can I have fillers?

-

QI RECENTLY turned 60 and hate the wrinkles and lines on my face. I would love to have fillers, but I have very sensitive skin and I am worried I’ll have a bad reaction. Are there any non-invasive ways to refresh my skin?

AIt Is difficult to assess which ingredients you might be sensitive to, but dermal fillers — which are usually used to treat these types of lines — are made of ingredients that naturally occur in the skin, such as hyaluronic acid, so reactions are very rare.

Dermal fillers are used to soften lines from under the skin and give structure to the area. Discuss concerns with your practitioner who will advise on the best course of treatment — procedures should be tailored to address your needs.

to avoid injections, microneedling is a good option. tiny needles are rolled over the skin to stimulate collagen repair and improve texture. Normally three to five treatments are required. the skin is usually red for a few days.

You can combine micro- needling with vitamin A-based products. these are applied to the skin once or twice a week, to increase cell turnover and collagen production.

Fees for micro-needling start from £550, depending on the area treated.
