Yahoo shuts teen’s app

YAHOO is closing the news app it bought from a British teenager for £20m.

The internet giant said News Digest, launched in 2014, would stop being updated at the end of the month. It evolved from Summly, an app created by Oxford undergraduate Nick D’Aloisio when he was 17. It collects news articles from multiple sources and shortens them into bitesize ‘digests’. D’Aloisio, 21, is now ‘focused on his studies’.
