Agony of teenage lottery winner obsessed by plastic surgery

‘Almost certain it’s sepsis’ ‘Extremely scared’

SHE was the fresh-faced teenager whose first flutter on a lottery ticket set her up for life after she won a £1million fortune.

But only four years on from becoming the youngest ever EuroMillions winner, Jane Park is seriously ill with suspected sepsis after undergoing a ‘Brazilian bum lift’ in Turkey.

The 21-year-old, from Edinburgh, is believed to have suffered a severe allergic reaction which made her face balloon days after the surgery – one of a string of cosmetic procedures she has had, costing her tens of thousands of pounds.

Since returning home to Scotland, Miss Park is thought to have developed the potentially deadly condition – which arises when the body’s response to infection causes harm to its own tissues and organs.

From her bed at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, she admitted she is ‘really scared’ she may die.

Miss Park was earning £8 an hour as an admin temp and sharing a two-bedroom council flat in Edinburgh with her mother Linda when she became a millionaire at the age of 17.

Since then, she has spent her time flying to exotic holiday destinations, has bought two properties and paid for a range of cosmetic procedures.

Miss Park is reported to have splashed out on breast enhancements, a full set of dental veneers, liposuction, botox, lip enhancements, cosmetic filler and now the ‘bum lift’.

The latest procedure – which uses a person’s own fat to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks – left her in agony.

She shared a string of horrify- ing images of herself in an ambulance, hooked up to a drip and in a hospital ward after her condition got worse at the weekend.

Posting on social media after her return to the UK from Turkey, she wrote: ‘I’m in absolute agony. I know the saying is pain is beauty but this is horrific.

‘It started with a little pain in my leg, a fever and then pins and needles, however, the pain is now severe.

‘I called the doctor around 5.30pm on Monday and he told me to get straight to accident and emergency.

‘As soon as they heard my conditions they rushed me straight into a side room. They said the four-hour wait could have been deadly.

‘They’re almost certain it’s sepsis. I’m frightened and I’m emotionally drained. I have tried to put on a brave face but I’m really scared.’ She added: ‘If this is sepsis, I’m fighting for my life. All because I wanted a slightly perkier bum.

‘I’m exhausted and extremely scared.’

Symptoms of sepsis include fever, increased heart rate and breathing, and confusion.

The most common cause of sepsis after surgery is either an of the incision made by the surgeon performing the procedure or an infection that develops after the operation.

Yesterday, NHS Lothian said the health board was ‘unable’ to provide an update on Miss Park’s condition.

When she won the lottery in 2013, the teenager vowed to spend her jackpot on a customised white Range Rover with pink trim, a season ticket for Hibernian football club and a holiday in Ibiza with her friends. She bought a house in Prestonpans, East Lothian, for £169,995 but recently sold it after four years – making a £20,000 profit – because she wanted to move back in with her mother.

Miss Park also bought a Volkswagen Beetle, a BMW and a purple Range Rover. But she has admitted that she struggled to adapt to life as a millionaire – including partners only being interested in her wealth.

In February, Miss Park claimed she was considering legal action against lottery organiser Camelot, saying life would have been ‘ten times better’ had she not won at such a young age.

She said: ‘I think 18 should be the minimum age for winning the lottery, at the least. The current age of 16 is far too young.

‘I’ve read about other lottery winners who’ve blown it all and I can see how it can be done.’
