Brawl victim shot dead in gangs’ feud
A MAN who died after being shot during a mass brawl near a children’s play park was the victim of a bloody feud between rival gangs.
Jamie Lee, 22, was fatally injured on Saturday night during a large-scale disturbance involving up to 15 people which was witnessed by a number of children.
A 62-year-old man was also shot during the incident in Castlemilk, Glasgow, around 8pm. He has since been released from hospital along with four others who received treatment.
Detective Superintendent Allan Burton said: ‘We are aware two groups have engaged in a stand-up fight where they have targeted individuals in both groups. The men involved are believed to be known to one another and sought each other out in targeted attacks.’
Police said six men suffered injuries consistent with a variety of weapons – thought to be knives and guns – being used.
Mr Lee died from a gunshot wound on Sunday evening at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His death is being treated as a murder and a post mortem examination will be carried out. The other attacks are being treated as attempted murder and serious assaults.
Yesterday forensics officers were seen at the rear of a nearby property.
Mr Lee’s family were too upset to comment on his death at their home in Castlemilk.
