Team Lloyd Webber celebrates victory

-

MUSICAL maestro Andrew Lloyd Webber was supported by two of his leading ladies when he won the outstanding achievement award at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards on Sunday.

The two blondes could pass as stars of one of his West End shows, but they were, in fact, his daughters. Author Imogen, 40, whose mother is Andrew’s first wife, Sarah Hugill, wore a floral black dress. And sporting a white ensemble was 21-year-old Bella, whose mum is his third wife, Madeleine Gurdon.

Bella is studying politics and international relations at Bath University, but wants to become a graphic designer — and her hobbies are just as diverse.

‘When I’m away from my screen, I take part in many sports, particularly eventing,’ she says, ‘with the aim to fly the British flag one day.’

TWO years after former That’s Life! presenter Dame Esther Rantzen commissioned her own coat of arms, she has finally decided on her motto.

‘The children thought “That’s Life” was too specific, and the one I wanted, “If you can’t get over it, get around it”, was too long,’ says Rantzen, who has a son and two daughters with her late husband, the documentary filmmaker Desmond Wilcox.

‘So we have settled on “If not now, when?”, because I want it to reflect both my philosophy and that of my late husband.’

She adds of her family crest: ‘It is going to have a ship for Desmond, who ran away to sea when he was young; a searchlight for me, because I always think it’s worth shining a light into dark places; and an English rose, because we both loved flowers.’

Shame there’s no space for the knobbly vegetables or talking dogs she introduced to the nation’s viewers on That’s Life!
