Fears grow for ‘unwell’ woman who has vanished
An urgent search is under way for an ‘unwell’ woman who vanished without a trace three days ago.
Catriona Beattie, 50, was last seen about 4.45pm on Wednesday before being reported missing from Morningside in Edinburgh.
Family and police said they have growing concerns for her welfare as she has not been in contact with anybody since.
Sister-in-law Susan Beattie posted to Facebook yesterday, saying: ‘We are all worried for her health and safety. [It’s] so worrying, the poor lass just isn’t well.’
Police yesterday refused to comment on the missing woman’s health, but said it is not believed anything sinister is involved in her disappearance.
A picture of her was also released by police yesterday in the hope someone will identify her whereabouts.
Miss Beattie, right, is described as being white, and about 5ft 7in tall with greying brown, shoulderlength hair.
Sergeant Kuong Lam said: ‘We are growing increasingly concerned for Catriona’s welfare and are keen to trace her.
‘Anyone with information that can assist us with our inquiries is asked to contact us immediately on 101.’
Meanwhile, the search continued yesterday for a 34-year-old woman who went missing after announcing plans to head to a beach in Aberdeen.
nusrat Jahan was reported missing from her home in the Seaton area about 10.30pm Thursday – shortly after Aberdeen fans left nearby Pittodrie following a Europa League qualification tie.
A major search effort involving specialist officers, a dog unit and police helicopter looked for the woman during the night and throughout Friday.
Local Area Commander Chief Inspector Kevin Wallace said: ‘At around 9.30pm she suggested to a friend that she planned on heading in the direction of the beach.
‘The area would have become increasingly busy as the match at Pittodrie ended with fans leaving the stadium, so I would ask anyone who remembers seeing a woman matching nusrat’s description to let us know.’
She has been described as being around 5ft 3in tall with a slim build.
