DRONE DELIVERY US retailer Walmart is planning to use drones to deliver its goods. It has filed a patent in the US to rival Amazon’s. Both hope taking to the skies will help to make their deliveries faster and cheaper.

FLOATING MEERKATS The £2bn float of BGL Group, which owns price comparison site Compare the Market, is likely to be pushed back until early next year. Compare the Market is famous for its TV adverts featuring a family of Russian meerkats. MONEY ROADSHOW Chief economist of the Bank of England Andy Haldane is touring the UK to try and improve the central bank’s communicat­ions with the public. He spoke at a curry house in Oadby, Leicester, this month.

STAYING PUT More than one fifth of directors (21pc) at small and medium sized businesses are now over the state pension age of 65. Accountanc­y firm Moore Stephens warns many are failing to put succession plans in place.
