Web fundraising bid to help injured mother of tragic British schoolboy, 7

-

THE family of a seven-year-old boy killed in the atrocity are raising money for his mother, who faces ongoing medical bills due to her severe injuries.

Julian Cadman was with his mother Jumarie – known as Jom – on Las Ramblas. The former Kent schoolboy, who had moved to Australia, died while his mother reportedly suffered broken legs, broken arms, a broken hand and facial wounds.

Last night a family friend revealed that Mrs Cadman, who was in Spain for her niece’s wedding, is facing years of surgery that may not be covered by insurance.

Scott Bowman, who has launched a GoFundMe web page, told the Daily Telegraph based in Sydney: ‘The concern we have got is their travel insurance might not cover acts of terrorism. Doctors have said she is going to be fine in the long term but she still has lots of surgery and years of physio ahead.’

The fundraising page, which has already raised £50,000, adds that the money will also go towards Julian’s funeral costs.

Julian’s father Andrew arrived in Barcelona on Sunday to be by his wife’s side.

Mr Bowman described his employee Mr Cadman – a 42-year-old cabinet maker – as a man who ‘lived for’ his son. ‘Everything that man did was to try and give his family a leg up for his boy,’ he said.

Police had confirmed at the weekend that Julian was one of the 13 dead, after he became separated from his mother during the attack.
