Is this where I audition for new John Lewis ad?

- By Ellie Forbes

The festive season is still several months away.

But that has not stopped a boisterous fox from staging its own re-enactment of an iconic television scene from last Christmas.

The John Lewis advert featured woodland creatures bouncing on a newly bought trampoline in a suburban back garden, taking their lead from a pair of intrepid foxes.

Set to a cover of the Randy Crawford song One Day I’ll Fly Away, the ad has been viewed tens of millions of times.

Now the scene has been recreated by a fox in a back garden in Prestwick, Ayrshire.

Service engineer Ian McClure, 55, snapped two of the animals as they played on his sun lounger early last Thursday morning. The amateur photographer said that foxes have made a habit of visiting his garden in the past, where they used to enjoy napping near his two pet cats.

he said: ‘We hadn’t seen any there for a couple of years. I got up to get ready for work at around 6.30am and noticed one sniffing about. By the time I found my camera, another young fox had appeared and they were chasing and tumbling around the sun loungers.’

Mr McClure then waited patiently for the foxes to repeat their playful antics, which they did.

he said: ‘One eventually crawled under the lounger and the other stayed above and pounced a few times.

‘I think this is how they catch their prey.’

Though Mr McClure is not an avid wildlife watcher, he said: ‘When it’s on your doorstep it can be entertaining.’

The images have attracted a lot of attention on social media.

Mr McClure added: ‘I think people saw it as a fun shot and some light relief in a time when so much of the news media and social media is about the troubles in the world.’
