FEBRUARY 2001: HEARTS 7-1 DUNFERMLINE
Two months into his reign, Levein’s side go goal crazy. Stephane Adam, Andy Kirk and Colin Cameron all score doubles with Robert Tomaschek also on target.
AUGUST 2002: HEARTS 5-1 HIBS
The Gorgie side embarrass their city rivals with a real thrashing. Mark de Vries becomes an instant hero after netting four with Kirk joining him on the scoresheet.
NOVEMBER 2002: HIBS 1-2 HEARTS
Hearts stage a memorable comeback at Easter Road as Kevin McKenna and Phil Stamp score in the final four minutes after Mixu Paatelainen’s opener for Hibs.
JANUARY 2003: HEARTS 4-4 HIBS
Hibs go 4-2 up through Craig James and Grant Brebner in the last two minutes, but Graham Weir rescues a point with an injury-time double in a game now firmly established in Tynecastle folklore.
APRIL 2003: HEARTS 2-1 CELTIC
Hearts end a run of 12 straight losses to Celtic as a stunning late strike from Austin McCann seals victory.
NOVEMBER 2003: BORDEAUX 0-1 HEARTS
One of Hearts’ best-ever European results. De Vries seals a first-leg victory, but they are knocked out of the UEFA Cup due to a 2-0 second-leg defeat.
MAY 2004: RANGERS 0-1 HEARTS
Levein leads Hearts to their first victory at Ibrox in eight years. Joe Hamill grabs the only goal.
SEPTEMBER 2004: HEARTS 3-1 S.C. BRAGA
Hearts conjure a tremendous first-leg win over the Portuguese thanks to Andy Webster, Paul Hartley and Patrick Kisnorbo’s goals. They draw the second leg 2-2 to progress to the UEFA Cup group stage.
