Edouard on board at Celtic

- By MARK WILSON

CELTIC last night pushed through a loan deal to land Paris Saint-Germain youngster Odsonne Edouard in the final two hours of the transfer window. An agreement for the 19-year-old striker, which includes an option to buy at the end of the season, was concluded after Edouard underwent a medical in London before heading north. He will be formally presented as a Celtic player at a media conference this afternoon. Edouard

extended his contract at PSG until 2020 before tying up the switch, but Celtic still have the opportunity to land his signature on a longer-term basis should the loan prove successful. ‘I am absolutely delighted to be joining Celtic, one of the world’s truly great football clubs, and I can’t wait to wear the famous Celtic jersey,’ he told the club website. ‘I am really looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and we will work hard together to bring our fans as much success as possible.’ Edouard’s parent club are Celtic’s first Champions League opponents on September 12. The French giants yesterday added teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe to join Neymar in the world’s most expensive strikeforce. Now an Under-19 international, Edouard was previously top scorer at the 2015 Under-17 European Championships — a haul which included a hat-trick against Germany in the final. The Parkhead club had also hoped to add a centre-back before midnight, but suffered frustration in that quest. Sportsmail understands Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Swansea all made enquiries about Jozo Simunovic — on the bench for Bosnia last night — but no bids were received.
