Proud Coleen puts aside marriage woes for her son’s big day
HER husband may have put their marriage under strain with his latest tawdry antics.
But Coleen Rooney was not going to let her domestic woes ruin her son’s first day of school yesterday.
Tweeting a photo of four-year-old Klay grinning broadly in his new uniform, she wrote: ‘Big school for my gorgeous Klay.’
The excited youngster was dressed in a smart green cap, grey shorts, and a green and yellow striped blazer with matching tie as he prepared to join his brother Kai, seven, at a £3,400-a-term preparatory school in Cheshire.
However, while his proud mother took to social media to share the news of her son’s big day, his father Wayne remained silent following his drink-drive arrest last week.
Rooney, 31, was charged with drinkdriving after being caught behind the wheel of a VW Beetle belonging to a woman he picked up after a 10hour drinking session while his pregnant wife and three sons were on holiday. Lettings agent worker Laura Simpson, 29, said the pair had ‘kissed and cuddled’.
If convicted, Rooney could face six months in jail and is likely to be banned from driving.
But yesterday the Everton striker defiantly drove himself to training – making sure his wedding ring was on show for the waiting photographers. However, reports suggested that his wife had taken off her bespoke diamond encrusted wedding and engagement rings, worth around £450,000, and was seriously considering leaving him.
Although Mrs Rooney has forgiven her husband for worse in the past, notably sleeping with prostitutes, a family friend said that their nine-year marriage was ‘hanging by a thread’.
Since the arrest Mrs Rooney has switched her profile pictures on Twitter and Instagram to ones of just her and sons Kai, Klay and Kit. On Monday, she uploaded two photos of the boys, writing poignantly: ‘No matter where I am they always follow me, and I hope that lasts forever.’
