‘WE’VE only known each other for a day. But it seems a lot longer.’ In this new-to-Freeview episode, Castle is in what seems like an alternativ­e universe, where he and Beckett never met. This sounds like a pretty barmy premise, but the episode is played — and lit — with a dark, noirish tone.

IN THE last episode, we meet Swaledales, ‘some of Britain’s toughest sheep’, looked after by 23-year-old Bertie at the Hodgson family farm. Bertie’s passion for his work is lovely to watch — and it drives this look at the uncertain future of his family’s way of life and livelihood.
